OUR TEAM
I am Karema Griffin, a native of Jersey City, New Jersey, was raised in Scotch Plains, NJ. I graduated from Scotch Plains Fanwood High School and earned an Associates Degree in Science in Criminal Justice from Union County College in 2022. After relocating to South Jersey in 2020 with my son, I continued my education at Rutgers University, completing my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2024. I am currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration with a focus on Public and Nonprofit Management, expected to graduate in May 2027.
While at Rutgers, I demonstrated strong personal and academic growth and remained actively involved in professional and community development. I bring over 13 years of experience as a state employee and currently work as a Family Service Specialist Trainee with the Department of Children and Families. I am also a devoted mother to my 16-year-old son, who is in high school.

Hi there,
I am Hamdala I. Suleman, a Master of Public Administration student at Rutgers University - Camden with a strong interest in equity, public policy, and community-centered solutions. My academic and research focus examines how policies and systems, intentionally or unintentionally, exclude marginalized populations from accessing essential services and opportunities. I am passionate about using research as a tool to amplify overlooked voices and drive meaningful change.
My perspective is deeply shaped by my background in Ghana, where I witnessed how rural migrants moving to urban areas in search of opportunity often struggled to access support services and felt excluded from policies designed primarily for urban populations. After relocating to the United States to continue my education, I recognized similar patterns affecting underserved communities here, reinforcing my commitment to inclusive governance and equitable service delivery.
If my research interests were described as an ice cream flavor, they would be salted caramel - because salt is often overlooked in desserts, yet it enhances depth and brings out the full flavor. In the same way, marginalized communities are frequently overlooked, even though their inclusion strengthens policies, institutions, and society.
This passion led me to collaborate on the Indigenous Emergency Access Initiative, a project designed to raise awareness of the barriers Indigenous populations face in accessing emergency support services. Through research, advocacy, and innovative problem-solving, I hope to contribute to building systems that are more responsive, inclusive, and just.
